The CO₂ Library (co2info.gr) is an information website about carbon dioxide emissions, the EU Emissions Trading System (EU ETS), the price of carbon and the technologies changing energy. Our aim is to explain a complex subject in plain language, with verified facts and without exaggeration.
What you'll find here
- Guides and analysis on climate policy, the EU ETS, CBAM, carbon pricing and new technologies, in the CO₂ Library.
- Free interactive tools, including calculators, emissions maps and simulators, on our Tools page.
- Glossaries of CO₂ and supply chain terms.
Who we are
The CO₂ Library is published by Data Communication Systems, a technology company based in Peristeri, Athens, Greece. The company has been active for more than 20 years in data communication solutions, business software (ERP, CRM), network security and digital services. We created co2info.gr in 2024 as a free source of information, to make the data and rules around CO₂ emissions easier to understand for businesses and households alike.
Data sources
The facts in our articles and tools are based on public, official sources:
- European Commission – EU ETS: legislation and data on the emissions trading system.
- European Environment Agency (EEA): emission inventories, projections and the EU ETS data viewer.
- Eurostat: energy and emissions statistics.
- Global Carbon Project: global CO₂ emissions.
- IPCC: scientific reports on climate change.
- Climate Watch: national climate targets (NDCs) and comparative data.
How we write and check articles
- Every figure or claim must be backed by a public source. When a figure is an estimate or a range, we say so explicitly ("roughly", "typically").
- We don't publish quotes or studies we can't verify.
- Every article shows its publication date and the date it was last updated.
- We review articles when legislation or data change, for example on the EU ETS, CBAM or national targets.
About our tools
Our calculators and simulators give indicative estimates based on averages and simplified models. They help you understand orders of magnitude, but they don't replace a professional assessment such as an energy audit or an installer's quote.
